Short-Term Medical

What is it?

Short-Term Medical Insurance - Short-term health insurance plans are designed to protect against unforeseen accidents or illnesses, rather than to provide comprehensive coverage, and, as such, do not include coverage for preventive care, physicals, immunizations, dental or vision care. Typically, short-term plans offer coverage up to six months, although some plans may offer coverage up to 12 months and they do not cover pre-existing medical conditions.

Who is it for?

People who buy short-term medical coverage are usually between jobs, waiting for coverage after starting a new job, unable to afford COBRA.

If you have chosen a higher deductible health insurance plan, you may want additional benefits that help fund your out-of-pocket costs in the event of a major claim. With Premier Benefits, you have access to bundled insurance benefits available through membership in Communicating for America, which include:

  • Critical illness
  • Accident medical expense insurance
  • Term life
  • Accident death and dismemberment insurance
  • Accident disability income insurance
